Clean Up Safety Tips

  • Do not pick up used needles or sharp broken glass.
  • If something is too large to fit into a bag, please leave it safely by the side of the road.
  • Do not open any bottles or cans that have liquid inside of them.
  • Please don't overfill bags. We will have plenty of bags and group leaders will carry extra bags.
  • Do not put trash into private dumpsters or trash cans. As part of this event, we want to get all trash to Public Works so it can be weighed before disposal.
  • If you are collecting trash in the Village, please leave bags at designated drop areas (they will have signs) or bring bags back to the Municipal Center.
  • If you are collecting trash along New Portland Road or South Street, please leave bags safely by the side of the road so that they do not block cars or pedestrians. A sweep team will come collect them.
  • Watch out for cars at all times!
  • Our primary focus is to clean up trash along the road sides and no more than 10 feet from the road's edge.
  • Please respect private property.
  • Please anticipate the road sides and trails being damp or muddy in places.
  • The event will happen rain or shine but if there are any last minute changes, we will post an update on the GCC Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/GorhamConservationCommission/
